During the launch of my LXD diary, I gave educational professionals 3 assurances which I can infer might have motivated you for subscribing to this diary:
You are not limited to traditional classroom teaching
You have what it takes to earn between $60k – $100K and more doing what you love.
In 3-months’ time, you’d find your best fit in innovative education fields.
You are still very much on course in seeing these 3 assurances become a reality for you in 3-months time.
While we are very much aware that teachers shortage is most severe in Africa, and even greatest in sub-Saharan Africa, which needs a total of about 17 million teachers to achieve universal primary and secondary education by 2030 (just 8 years from now), according to UNESCO; the corporate world, higher education, government organisations, and K-12 education are also in dire need of educational professionals to achieve the new goals set as a result of the changes that happened in the next phase of the 21st century we are currently experiencing.
In my last LXD diary, you saw how learning experiences can be an absolute game-changer, where you also got to know that your super powers are needed. In today’s diary, I’d be unveiling the various industries that need you beyond a school.
Corporate
As the workforce is welcoming a new demography; the Genzers, upskilling of the existing demography that are over a decade in a company, to using training as a solution to remain competitive amongst every other existing organization. The corporate world is calling for individuals who can help make this happen through the deployment of interactive eLearning courses, result-oriented training, etc. in introducing new processes, procedures in a company in order to improve upon the overall performance of their workforce. The department that drives this in the corporate is commonly called the Learning & Development team.
Higher Education
What’s the idea behind distance learning? Innovation would continue; you can confirm when you observe the disruptive changes that has happened and will not stop, not just yet. Higher education is gradually moving to blended learning, online learning, etc. at a cost effective rate. This would not only be solving the problem of high cost to get higher education from the best institutions in the world, it would also give people an equal opportunity to enjoy from the programmes. The department that drives this in higher education usually have to collaborate with the lecturers in designing their courses, most especially in coming up with student-centric learning outcomes.
Government Organisations
More than ever before, governmental organisations are much more interested in creating awareness of various programmes and agenda that would be beneficial to the public. How best would they communicate this to the general public? And in what form? A department in this government organisations is posed with the responsibility to create instructional materials to drive awareness for the public most especially is the case. Do you see just maybe an English teacher applying what she teaches about instructional texts here?
K-12 Education
In addition to the problem of shortages in teachers, the world population has never experienced a rapid growth in population with young people and children being the largest. Part of the innovation that has happened in K-12 education includes moving classes online, development of interactive learning solutions, etc. Innovative roles in K-12 education include but not limited to Digital tutor, eLearning developer, curriculum manager, etc.
The images attached to each industries is a snippet of some roles that have been recommended to me from the past 2 years when I began my own journey in finding my best-fit in innovative fields in education.
In my next LXD diary, you’d be checking yourself to measure your current skill set, against the top 7 skills needed to bring out your brilliance. You’d also certainly get help in any skill set gap, after seeing the result of your measurement.
